Become a Member
Membership in the New Chesapeake Men for Progress, Inc. is a privilege and is contingent meeting the membership requirement as specified. Membership in the Organization shall consist of two classes: Individual and Associate.
- Individual Member: Membership is open to adult males who meet the following criteria: (1) be at least 18 years old, (2) resident of Chesapeake, (3) supports the purpose/mission of the Corporation, and (4) pay the membership dues set annually by the Executive Board.
- Associate Member: Membership is open to adult males who meet the following criteria: (1) be at least 18 years old, (2) be a resident of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton. Portsmouth, Suffolk, Franklin, etc., (3) support the purpose/mission of the Corporation, and pay membership dues set annually by the Executive Board.
Membership is open to any qualified voter of the City of Chesapeake, who has a record of community service in civic, church, or any social organization. Membership is also open to men of surrounding Hampton Roads cities who support the mission of the organization and they shall be termed Associate Members. Clause would stipulate that associate member may not hold an officer position within the organization but may serve on Committees.
Application for membership must be in writing with the endorsement of one or more active members. Membership may be granted upon invitation and endorsement of any member of the organization and approved by a majority of the members present. Membership is confirmed by the paying of membership dues of $60.00 annually. Membership is terminated by non-payment of dues.
Paid up members are eligible to hold offices. All members are eligible to serve on any organization elected or appointed committees, and have a voice in all matters which affect the organization. Each member is entitled to one vote. Membership in the organization shall become active upon payment of dues for the calendar year beginning January 1st and ending December 31st of each year.
BENEFITS DERIVED FROM MEMBERSHIP
Your membership in the New Chesapeake Men for Progress, Inc. serves a dual purpose in that it builds a base of loyal supporters of the Organization’s mission, and creates a large pool of individuals to help with funding, planning, public speaking and other organizational tasks as specified in each committee. Membership dues provide a reliable source of non-restricted revenue to assist with organizational maintenance. Additionally, your membership strengthens the Organization’s credibility, support, and advocacy on critical issues.
Individually, your membership offers you many opportunities to be a part of the Organization’s mission; participate in decision making; collaborate with others on important issues; share your knowledge and expertise; identify problems/plan solutions; learn more about key city issues; develop and shape strategies/policies; and network with like-minded members and community leaders.
